Make It Your Symbol

Raffaele Maietta’s design on his forearm represents the symbolic reference in the Italian culture with traditional peppers. Emphasis on the red colour brings his design to life with the vines outlined in a traditional black and grey base.

A portrayal of internal liberation, embracing freedom of thought and letting my mind wonder wherever it will take me. I’ve attempted to portray this through my sketches. This is artwork for the personal self and not for the masses. Drum Circle Sketches at the Wreck Room & designs done in my Woman’s Sexuality class at York University.

Back To Erotic Blender
Posted by lu in Uncategorized on 03 14th, 2008| icon3No Comments »

Erotic Blender was a photography show held at Come as You Are last February. The event collected all forms of sexual expression through photography in the greater Toronto area. Submissions were sent in and the show held a full house the opening night of February 29th. One of my photos submitted “Recommended Three Times Daily” was written up in NOW Magazine and quite the favorite shot for our friends bathroom décor pieces. The ther two submissions can be seen under Photography in my Portfolio.

Writing on Her Body

Simplicity can be powerful.
Jenna Bennett’s designs “believe” and “live, laugh, love” were designed after a brief conversation over what exactly she wanted.
They are perfect examples of smaller, word designs working on the body.

influential artist jenny holzer:

DESTROY SUPERABUNDANCE. STARVE THE FLESH, SHAVE THE HAIR, EXPOSE THE BONE, CLARIFY THE MIND, DEFINE THE WILL, RESTRAIN THE SENSES, LEAVE THE FAMILY, FLEE THE CHURCH, KILL THE VERMIN, VOMIT THE HEART, FORGET THE DEAD. LIMIT TIME, FORGO AMUSEMENT, DENY NATURE, REJECT ACQUAINTANCES, DISCARD OBJECTS, FORGET TRUTHS, DISSECT MYTH, STOP MOTION, BLOCK IMPULSE.”

The main focus of jenny holzer has been on the investigation of means to disseminate her ideas within public space. Since the late seventies, she has been working in the street and in public buildings, using media that would enable her work to blend in the landscape. From LCD displays to posters and stickers (applied to such urban elements as telephone booths or parking meters), the texts function as comments on that environment they fit into, stimulating awareness of our social conditioning as conveyed by the very landscape in which we may be confronted by them.
